Monitoring and Documentation of Women’s Circumstances and Documenting Data on Gender-Based Violence
SWDF has developed specific expertise pertaining to women; the foundation has compiled information regarding the needs and daily life of the Somali women. SWDF created a mobile team collecting information related to abused women and girls, the data is collected through listening, psychosocial, and legal guidance centers affiliated with the foundation.
The data is then analyzed according to regular measures, resulting in available data that contributes to painting a clearer picture for the foundation regarding cases of violence against women in Somalia. The foundation documented cases of and the practices that led to the severe abuse of women’s rights.
The foundation also published studies on the state of Somali widows, early and forced marriages in Somalia. These studies have contributed to shedding light on specific cases in Somalia and educating civil society on the occurrences of these phenomena in Somalia and their effects on Somali women.
SWDF contributed to writing specific documents produced by civil society organizations in Somalia, which are addressing the International Community on the state of Women in Somalia.
The foundation also participated in writing comprehensive periodic reports focusing on women’s rights from 2019 to 2021. Finally, the foundation contributed to writing shadow reports on the Convention of the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
